It lights up, amber then green, and heats up but no steam or sound? Almost new. Any ideas please? It's a S87-CX

Vax products do not have a good back up service. Will not buy vax again.

My Vax S87 worked once then stopped steaming.. I found the pickup ball hole had closed up... took some trickery to get it opened up again but working well again now.

Mine stopped putting out steam. I poked a hairpin in all the suggested places which did not help and in desperation took the thing apart. First, remove the electric plug from the socket of course. Remove the water container. Undo two screws to remove a grey piece of plastic.
Then undo 6 screws holding the cover to the unit. The two 'front' screws are quite long.
You will see a plastic tube which I found to be crimped under a holder. Remove the two screws holding the tube in place and make sure there is not a sharp bend in the tube. Mine seemed to have so I put it back with a round bend. I also removed the tube from where it connects and blew through the tube to make sure it was clear. Replaced all the parts and it works fine now. HTH

When poking narrow needle in nozzle hole, should it go far - the needle comes to a stop and I am unsure whether to push further.

Love the cocktail stick solution - worked a treat

Some steam mops have filters as mentioned. Mine was blocked, but rather than buy a new one I blew it through from both directions ( in/out ) with a compressor. The mop now goes like a steam train again.

Same problem. Vax suggested new filters at £8 each. Bought. Still didn't work! No water coming through nozzle. Taken main cover off. Everything connected as it should be. Out of warranty. Manual floor mop here I come. Poor product imho. Had issues with Vac vacuum cleaner as well a couple of years ago. Sort your products out Vax!!!

Teds' stratagem; cocktail stick is the ideal tool. Best add some water softening agent. febreeze has some scented steam iron liquid.

Thanks to Ted and his cocktail stick my vax is now working again

Can some one give me advice on how or where to go to get my steamer fixed?? The water isn't heating up an there's no steam coming out!!!!!

Suzanne, April 2015
With a cocktail stick I cleaned out the nozzle hole on the end of the steamer where the tools attach.
The steamer is now working at full pressure again.
