You don't say what the box is which doesn't help get an accurate answer.
A number of PVR's EPGs were based on a product which has been withdrawn by the supplier and so the EPGs have stopped working. There is no fix to this. You can confirm if you have an affected box by keying its make/model into a search engine like Goggle or Yahoo.
If your box is one of those affected, you can continue to record on the PVR by manually inputting the channel and date/times of the program that you wish to record.
