Hi can anyone help our TV keeps turning itself onto standby then wont come back on for ages.

The blue standby light comes on then goes slightly dimmer.

We have tried turning it off and leaving off for over an hour. We have also left on standby and kept trying to turn on via the remote and eventually it comes back on (almost as and when it pleases, no particular duration).

We have only had this TV for just over two years and do not know how to fix, can anyone help please!!!!

Had the same problem. If your handy with a screwdriver take the back off the set, unplug it first. Follow the mains lead to the power supply board. Look at the capacitors. They are the round blue/black things with silver tops. I had two of them with the tops bowing upwards. They should be flat. The value on mine where 4700uF 6.3Volt. A search on ebay showed loads on sale in pairs. So it must be a common fault.
If your handy with a soldering iron or know somebody who is, change both. Take note (photos) of the connections if you unplug all the leads and take care to solder the new capacitors positive and negative connections the right way round or it may go bang.
Cost £2 some time and solder. Result...

i have had my tv which is the same as yours since the14/6/08 and the power supply has gone four times i got it from comet, you can email this if it will help you and you can put youre complaint to them

Hi update for anyone ... took it to a tv repair shop in the end, it was the power supply board which required replacing - cost £100.00 including labour. Hope this helps :0) x
