cut out the horizontal joint about one to one and half inches deep slip the lead in using either wood wedges or old lead from the old flashing rolled in to wedge and hammer in the joint until they are inset 1/2 inch then re-point. Then gently tap the lead against the wall don't try setting it square or flat to the wall you may split the lead where it runs on to the cons: glazing and gently tap over the frame profiles and glazing leave a slight gap to over come possible capillary action of water sucking up under the lead if it's dressed down flat.
