When i press the record buton it registers it but does not record the programme-- it says recording failed or recording corrupt

1,Try a different blank dvd, quite often it can be those that are corrupt rather than your machine.
2, Is it still in warranty? -i'd try and return it to where you purchased it from.
3, Failing that it would probably be cheaper to buy a new one than have all the hassle / expense of trying to get it repaired
