There is absolutely no point in buying a Sky box second hand.
If you wish to receive encrypted programs then Sky often give the boxes away for free with a subscription.
If you want to receive FTA programs then a Freesat box is better.
If however you mean a box that can receive Sky encrypted stuff for free, forget it - there is no such thing. Next time the "the man in the pub" say there is, ask him where you can get one.
