I have Model 27998ge6-c and it was hit by lightning with a loud snap. Thought all was lost but took base apart and found .35 amp/250volt fuse blown. Replaced fuse = all OK.
luckily it did not go thru rest of circuit board. You can try to disassemble base unit and look for small fuse. Check fuse with continuity checker for blown condition. If blown, replace fuse, hopefully that will do repair depending if "strike" did not go thru rest of circuits and destroy the I.C.'s. Vince
