Faulty shutoff on Russell Hobbs Electric Kettle?

The Russell Hobbs (1500W, no model number that I can find) kettle has served me well for many years. Now, it shuts off too quickly - almost instantly.

Circling the kettle with a bungee cord so as to hold the switch down works ... but is this switch adjustable or repairable?

hello jim,
if you can strip it down you will find a bi- metallic strip behind the switch if you can straighten it out a bit more it will allow more heat to be generated before it expands enough to operate the switch off.it is trial and error until you get the right tension.
hope this is of some help to you.
