LV downlighters stopped one by one?

Over a period of about 3 years my 3 bathroom downlighters have all stopped working approx 1 each year. Each time i tried to replace the bulb but that has not ever worked. Finally thought to myself that maybe i have been unlucky and all 3 transformers have gone down? but if that where the case why do i still get indication that there is power getting to the light fitting? Should i be using a special bulb ? the markings on the transformers are
Prim 230V-50Hz 60VA
SEC 11.6V-eff MAX.4.9A
TA50deg C TC85degC
Any help greatly appreciated

and one more thing, depending on the quality of the light fitting, the bulb holder may be at fault

if you are using electronic trannies, then they wont pass current if the bulbs are blown, you will get a reading at the mains end, light circuits are very simple,
and remember,do not touch the bulbs with your fingers,as you will leave a grease spot that will cause the bulb to blow.check the mains input to your trannies,if your getting 240v then, the bulbs are blown,or your trannies are shot
