I had the same problem with my Hotpoint FDW60 and read all the online reviews about how baddly made the FDW60 is and after taking it apart I totally agree.

As the warning lights were indicating a faulty heating element I checked it to find that it was not working. I bought a replacement for £43 at my local electrical store (I think they then ordered it online). Taking the bottom off is easy but once off, it is very difficult to actually get to the element, but it can be done. I had to buy new hose clips to fasten the rubber pipe each side too. It has been on twice today and so far so good.

I have read some message boards and have seen that some people have had to replace the element a number of times, so I will wait and see what happens.

Be aware the heating element is not your usual heating element, it looks more like a insulated metal tube: http://www.buyspares.co.uk/cgi-bin/search.pl?query=heating+element+fdw60

Good luck

Hi,
Have the same problem which the service centre said was the heating element as you advise. An engineer called as it is still under warranty and tested the element but said it was fine. Had to order a new controller board which is located behind the start button in the door. Will let you know if this fixes the problem.

FIXED IT HOTPOINT FDW60

Ok hear we go the problem with the dfw60 has been solved
This explanation is in plane English!!!!
The fault as stated in the first post was FAST 40 and DELCATE 50 not the first form the left or 1000’Th light from the right light which confused the hell out of me!!! Which made the dishwasher start up then stop and drain its self and put up this error code of flashing these lights?

Any way it was the heater at fault that’s all
So I contacted Hotpoint direct on 08709077077 and ordered a new heater
Part number C00057684 and it only cost £37.03 Inc vat and p&p

Got hubby to install it as he is an electrician and away it went
Good as new

So there we go all done I hope this post helps the people like me .non technical
