used to centre pop the gear linkage on these before removal, sorry cant remember the adjusting method, think there is a pin for the bottom of the gear lever assy under the veh but cant remember the g/box end position, dont think you should hear the pedal ratcheting, once it is adjusted that is it,it will adjust gradually with wear,if you can get your linkage sorted out maybe that will help matters, try your library for a manual for a quick look at adjustment method

ill check the centre plate but im sure i put it in the right way. yeh i can select gears when the engine is off. but not that well, i think its because i havnt put the rod in the right place either? the one from the gear lever to the gearbox.
i got a new ratchet thingy for the clutch pedal ages ago but now it doesnt seem to ratchet.

i think im going to scrap the van lol
cheers

can you select each gear with the engine off?if yes your clutch isnt clearing, these are self adjusting so you either have a faulty new clutch or the centre plate is in the wrong way,one more thing have had the release arm on these cracking near the pinch bolt on the release shaft, sometimes hard to spot so maybe that is worth a look, good luck
