How to remove a jamed chuck ??

My 18V cordless McKeller drill has a jammed chuck, stuck wide open. Even a pipe wrench cannot get this thing unstuck. I would like to remove the whole thing and replace with a better (metal) type chuck but unable to get this thing off. Please advise how to do this.

Hi, I was having the same problem as yourself and couldn't move the chuck at all. After thinking about it for a while I decided to boil a kettle and put the water into a metal pan. I submerged the chuck only into the water which I had on a gas ring. I left the chuck in the water for about a minute and withdrew. Wiped it with a towel and the chuck freed up! Hope this works for you and any one else that has the same problem .....

Hi Robert, my drill of the same modle has done exactly the same thing. My old metal Black& Decker still goes strong but this modern drill seems poor in comparrison. If you manage to find a solution please let me know, before the sledge hamer gets to work!

hi robert,if you can look into the chuck you will see a phillip's head screw remove this noting it's a lefthand thread once removed the chuck should unscrew on a right hand thread, may need to lock the driveshaft
