Vince … thank you, for your reply and kind sentiments :)
Mike … thank you for your very good advice. However, as I have unplugged the machine, no one will be harmed if I open the machine to inspect what the problem is, and if money was not a problem, I would most certainly call in a Miele service engineer, even though the last time I called Miele they initially asked for over £580 to repair the damage caused be a faulty circuit board.
Although I guess, I've just be unlucky with this machine – if I can not repair this machine myself, it’s obvious that I will be much wiser to buy another brand than to have Miele repair it again!’
Here’s the maths I should have gone with before I bought this machine … spend over £1K for a machine you hope is going to last long enough to pay for itself … or buy another brand – same spin speed – for a third of the price … with the assurance that the money saved will allow the peace of mind that even if any faults developed after the guarantee has expired, you could buy a new replacement machine (with a new guarantee) – and even in the unlikely event that you had to buy a third machine within 10 years, you would still be quid’s in … you will have earned interest on the money you saved and if you did have to replace the first/second machine … you will have a newer machine which might still be covered by a current guarantee.
In any case, I welcome any other insight into how to open the front, what the problem might be and what the remedy is.
Warmest regards,
James :)
