how to fix overwound grandfather clock?

how do I fix an overwound grandfather clock

Hi, most grandfather clocks are weight driven. Overwinding can cause the weight pulley to jam under the clock seat board. The easiest way to release it is to keep swinging the pendulum until the weight drops enough to release the pulley.

if you over wind a spring it breaks full stop, what i think happened is you have a dry spring that cannot supply tension to the clock gears need to get some very thin oil in between the coils to make them slip against one another check all cog carrying bearing holes are not OVAL (worn) tying up the escape movement.
