How can I fix my dvd recorder,Toshiba,D-VR5SU?

The dvd part is taking longer time to read the DVDs.I put a CD Lens Cleaner in and it works no problem.I've had this player for a few years now.Could there be something wrong with the eye or the laser?If so,how can I fix it?
