shart xe-a106?

I just bought this register and am unable to enter anything except a cash sale. To enter a Check or CC sale I enter the amount of the order and hit "CHK" but it gives me an error, same with "CH".

I am only using this to enter the whole order amount, not line item, therefore, I am not using the Dept #.

Can you tell me how to enter a check or cc order without the error message?

You have to use a department because the department tells the machine what the customer purchased, then press the chk button etc to finish the sale. If you don't want to itemise it, just use one department for the complete amount. You cannot pay into a finalising key.
