Replace motor on Riccar 906E?

My Riccar 906E stopped working completely yesterday and there was a strong smell of burning and a crackling noise. I suspect the motor has burnt out. Although it is around 25 years old and has had heavy use in that time, I am very fond of it and would like to repair it rather than buy a new one. Does anyone know if replacement motors are still available for this model?

I had this problem, and it was too much grease or oil on the printed circut board - de-grease and dry completely. Mine was smoking heavily and crackling and I nearly throw it out the window as I thought it was going to ignite! It is now as good as new. Good luck.

Hello Liz,
The motor will be hard to come by, the crackling noise you heard suggests to me that it is not the motor but the suppressor, if the noise and smell is coming from the motor try and get to it and there should be something that looks like a fuse or a small square thing near the motor, take it out and discard it, if the smell is coming from the foot control open it up and take the suppressor out and discard it.
