Malcolm,
Can you gain access to socket without having to pull out dishwasher, if so try another appliance in the socket. This will let you know if you are getting power to the dishwasher or if the problem is within the dishwasher. If you have grid switches on the kitchen wall that operate several appliances, check that these switches are making contact as this could be your problem.
