I have a Panasonic DMR-EX95VEBS DVD recorder that has suddenly packed up recognising any discs including ones that have been played previously and even new, unused discs. When a disc is loaded it starts by saying READING and then, after a few seconds it says NoREAD. The message on the TV says 'Disc not recognised'. All other items work OK.
