Today we had an electrician round, he switched the electric off while he worked. I switched the sky box to stand by before he did this however i have not been able to get the sky box out of stand by since the power came back on, the remote led on the box does not light up when i press a button on the remote. I have changed the batteries in the remote control just in case but i cant get it to switch on manually or by remote is there anything i can do? I have also tried some fixes for forcing updates but see no sign that the sky box is responding.

I have the same problem. Sky say it was probably due to a power cut.

I tried the reset procedure as follows:

Hold down the back-up button on the sky box for 10 seconds.

While holding down the back-up button disconnect the power at the plug or from the back of the sky box with the other hand whilst still holding the back-up button.

After the power has been off for 10 seconds, plug the power back in while still holding the back-up button for up to 60 seconds.

This procedure I was told resets the unit 95% of the time.

I am of the 5%.

Any more suggestions please let me know.

Sky say I have to buy a new box or get a technician out to fix it for £65.

try unplugging your sky box from the mains for a few mins then plug back in if this does not work try removing the card and putting it back in. hope this helps
