My heatslave 12 14 is spewing black smoke and smells like paraffin, the entire house filled with smoke but from back yard vent. The oil tank ran dry and I had it filled, since filling the smoke has started. I never realised the oil tank was empty and tried to fire the unit 3 times, but the lock out light appeared. Please help this is urgent as our animals were all smoked out as this took place whilst at work. Could not see the other side of the room

I agree with the answer given by boiler boy but....it could be that the oil company has inadvertantly delivered the wrong grade of oil....seen that one before !!

Get an experienced oil engineer in to clean & reset the boiler
It is my belief that you are not telling the whole story and I belive that you have interfered with the oil pump in an attempt to bleed the oil supply and have inadvertently tampered with the oil pressure adjustment screw (I've seen this thousands of times and am utterly sick of having to clean out very sooted boilers which is ther result!
