Gold does make a very slightly better contact providing it's a gold to gold fit - i.e. plug and socket both gold plated - a problem might arise with dissimilar metals with electrolytic action and the risk of corrosion at the contact points.

it wont make any diff mate,its a con ,i have tried gold plated leads,and ordinary ones,and i can tell you now,there is no diff in the picture quality
