Zanussi DW908 drainage query?

Hi,

I have just replaced a faulty drain pump on my Zanussi DW908 dishwasher. I have run through serveral test cycles and the machine does now pump out. I replaced it with what looks to be an identical pump, although the website I purchased from described it as a washing machine drain pump, but other web sites led me to believe these pumps are generally universal.

My query is, when I lift the plasitic grill out from the bottom to access the sump area, there is always approximately 1cm - 1.5cm of water still present. Is this normal? Of course when the machine was operating normally I never checked, so don't know if it is normal or not!

All pipes seem clear with no obstructions.

Thanks in advance.
