transformer (RING CT-65T)?

i have ceiling lights running from a transformer 12v,sometimes when they have been on (a couple of hours), they just go off for no apparent reason,not every time, when it happens i turn them off at the switch,wait a couple of minutes,then switch them back on.could the transformer be cutting off for some reason.!help please thanks.MODEL (RING CT-65T).

Firstly have you replaced one (or more) of the lamps with a higher watage than originally specified. If you had 3 x 20w lamps on the transformer to start with but then replaced one of the 20w bulbs with a 50w one then you will overload the CT-65 transformer since you wil be drawing 2 x 20 + 1 x 50 = 90watts insted of 60watts. It is likely the ct-5 has an overload thermal cutout which would trip after a few minutes of overload. Also - as mm says - make sure your CT-65 is not covered with loft insulation.

two things,first,its a cheap trannie,second its a cheap trannie,buy a better one,make sure that you pick one with the same wattage,and make sure there is no insulation covering the trannie
