leaking toilet?

My cistern is a modern push-button flush model. It dribbles down the back of the pan, at varying rates, all the time. Even when the loo has just been flushed. I have several friends with the same problem. Is it a design fault or can it be fixed?
Desperate of Emsworth.

check the water inlet valve but shut water off before you do so. might be some grit allowing a cont flow of water if not a replacement will be required

Yes, desperate of Emsworth, we have the same problem. The small amount of water loss adds up if you have a metered supply to a hefty 'half as much again' on our water bills incoming and waste!
It would be cheaper to rip it out and go again, I estimate. Replace the whole unit or change to a traditional flush, if you can. Some plumbers will not fit this new press-button flush - I wonder why?
