Is my extractor fan broken?

The extractor fan works (i.e. you can here it whirring away), however after a shower etc, when the fan cuts off (after its alloted time when the light has been switched off), water drips from the casing so it would appear that the fan isn't extracting the moist air all the way to the outside of the building.

We have taken the casing off, cleaned it etc and replaced all bits and it appeared to stop dripping for a week or so but it has started again.

Any ideas or is it time to get an electrician in?

May thanks, Rachelle

Rachelle there are two checks you can do to test the air flow hold a thin tissue close to the casing to see if the air is being drawn out and also check the point at which the air leaves the building this can give you an indication of air flow volume

From what you have said it sounds as if the flap or grill on the outside wall may be blocked or not opening.
If this is the case then the moisture has no place to go and hence the dripping inside.
Best way to clean outside vent is from the outside!!
