How can I fix my time on my clock?

I have a Daniel Dakota Grandfather clock with chimes, battery operated. I went to chance the time and pulled out batteries, put new in, followed directions by setting it at 6:05 A.M. then inserting batteries, the clock chimes six times, like the directions saids, but after that it is not keeping time. What is the red button for on the battery componet, like a reset??? I did that too, but the directions don't explain what the red button is for.
