How do I top up my Boiler when the pressure has dropped?

Last winter our boiler pressure dropped to zero after we had bled the radiators. A plumber friend of a friend kindly showed us how to top the pressure back up but for the life of me I can't remember how and now of course it's done it again!
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Within these instructions it details the pressure gauge is in the lower boiler housing. Below the boiler there are two taps (as you said below) One of these taps is the quarter turn tap and this should be to allow water into the system to increase pressure.

As you open the tap slowley the pressure should increase and set to 1.5-2 bar.

These taps can get stuck and altough the lever turns it does not open the valve- this might be the problem as it appears you have already tried this already.

A word with the plumber friend!

Thats the instructions we have here but it only tells you to call the installer or service engineer if the pressure drops. Thanks anyway!

There's two taps below the boiler I know you are supposed to use. one is on a vertical pipe which I can't seem to turn and the other is on a horizontal pipe which you can turn a quarter turn but this doesn't make anything happen by itself

You will have a large pressure vessel (near your hotwater tank?) with a pressure gauge above it .
From this gauge is a pipe connected to a small 90 degree washing machine type tap.
TURN THE TAP OPEN VERY GENTLY TILL THE GAUGE READS 1.5 -2 BAR THEN CLOSE OFF TAP.
