If I press "play," the tape drive will start and then drop off and stop. That's true for both the "A" side and the "B" side. Sometimes, though, it will play just one particular tape, and I don't know what makes that tape so special.

The tape drive acts like it's on batteries and the batteries are low, but I have it plugged into the wall socket. It's not the socket. I checked.

Light tape packs are easier for the stretched belts to handle, so short tapes play, long tapes don't. Change the belts! There are three of them.
