Cannot enter my peugeot 306 radio code?

I have a peugeot 306 S reg, had new battery fitted and had to enter my code, first I got ---- on screen, entered my code and all i got was 1111 ? This isnt my code ? It would not allow me to enter correct numbers ?can anyone help me please. Thankyou
