If it is a HTD501 then the fuse or resistor may or may not be mounted on the lamp holder. When you remove the lamp you will see two metal contacts bottom left of space where lamp was. In later units a small board on the lamp holder made contact with these contacts. Whether it is there or not. To reset the lamp timer fit across these contacts either a small 300mA fuse or a resistor about 300ohms. Turn the set on using the remote. The lamp timer wil reset. Then turn off remove the fuse or resistor.
If the set is a HDD50 model the fuse is mounted in the top of the lamp holder, replace with a fuse of less than 1 amp . Turn tv on lamp timer will be reset andthe fuse wil have (deliberately) blown Warning do NOT fit a high value fuse as this will blow up the power supply. 300mA to 1 amp will do it.
hope this helps
