This unit is a combo VCR and DVD recorder, purchased new from sears around summer 2002. At first I was able to record DVDs from tv or dub from a VHS tape. I haven't used it in a long time for recording, so now I keep getting disc error or incorrect disk messages. The manual says it uses DVD-rw or DVD-r but it rejects most of the ones I have tried. I think the newer discs are a format it can't recognize. It will play a prerecorded DVD fine, so I know it's working.
