Please help, I have a close coupled toilet, the cistern will not stop filling resulting in the overflow running into the basin all the time. I have adjusted the ballcock but when it stops filling the water level drops and the filling cycle starts all over again, obviously loosing water from the cistern but I cant find out from where! Any ideas anyone!

is the water going down the pan as some toilet are self maintained these days try putting some toilet paper around the rim to see if the water is constantly running down the toilet,
