How can I fix my Amstrad sky HD+ box which stays on standby ?

My Amstrad sky HD+ box has suddenly refused to switch on from standby i.e the red light does not go to green when the sky button on the remote control is pressed, so the TV remains on analogue and I cannot get any sky or freesat channels or see any previously recorded programmes. It was installed in September 2009 and was OK until today.

Is the power light flickering? If it is then your power card is faulty certain capacitors will have blown. Is the power light steady? If it is,then with the power on press and hold the right and left navigation buttons turn off the power still holding in the buttons turn power back on continue to hold in buttons until green circle light comes on.release buttons and press select green light will spin anti clockwise, leave for 10mins after stopping and turn on box with remote.Good luck. Please note this process erases the hard drive.

after trying reboot with no result:telephone sky 08442 41 41 41 inform them of problem and complain (carmly) you are therefore considering cancellation of subscrption as u can not afford the callout charge of £60+. THIS RESULTED for me having a free engineer callout with a free new console. TRY IT!

I've just discovered the standby button on top of the skyHD+ box. Press that and it may come out of standby. It did for me. Hope you have the same result.
Regards.
