No volume control with a sky remote control unit on TV?

My Sky HD remote control works perfectly on the TV except for the volume control - which has no impact at all.
I was quite sure it was the remote control was faulty that I bought a new one, same thing happens.

BUT, the remote control for the DVD player works OK on the TV
