How to mend a Kitchen Mixer Tap ?

My kitchen mixer tap sticks when I use the hot water, it screeches and will only move up down left & right with great difficulty. When it cools down, i.e when I dont use it for a bit, it is ok, still a little stiff but not nearly as bad as after using the hot water. What can I do, do I need to replace the washers or discs or whatever? It's 2 years old, doesn't get too much wear.

Hello Brian, thanks for taking the time to respond. Yes it is a lever type tap. there is central disc, it is a single lever which goes right for cold, left for hot, centre for mixer, up and down to control the flow. Is your solution still relevant? Thanks again.

i presume it's not a lever action so remove tap head (usually by removing centre disc and removing screw) with spanner or grips remove tap body and gently pull off clip on the splined shaft remove and clean all the parts and apply good quality grease when you screw the body back in make sure the tap is in the fully open position
