noisey toilet?

When i flush the toilet it makes a loud umphing noise i'm not sure if it's like air trapped. How do i stop this happening?

Make sure there is water in the cistern and that the ball valve isnt jamming on anything.

Or alternativley take up the trombone and tune in to the salvation army on the world service.

It sounds as if the siphon needs replacing Amber. I think you need a plumber.
