whats causing my engine to stay running???when key is turned off?

I have 1999 ford transit it starts ok but when i turn the key off an take it out the engine wont turn off?? please help

2.5 di more likely fuel run on valve.try disconnecting spade tag from switch usually found on diesel pump.escorts were famous for this about £14 odds for switch.van in gear foot on the brake and clutch up to stall it.

Sounds like a ingnition switch problem that is located on lower steering colum ...if its a deisel it be the shut down solenoid on injection pump
