Not all DVD Recorders can record the Digital signal directly.
As Terry advised your best bet is to buy a DVD Recorder with an Integrated Digital Tuner. It makes recording Freeview very easy.
If you wish to buy a DVD Recorder with Integrated Digital Freeview Tuners (they also have Analogue), the following Panasonic models have just been released in the UK:
Panasonic DMR-EZ25EB-S (DVD Recorder).
Panasonic DMR-EZ45EB-S (DVD + VHS Tape Combi).
Panasonic DMR-EX75EB-S (DVD + 160Gb HDD Combi).
Panasonic DMR-EX85EB-S (DVD + 250Gb HDD Combi).
Panasonic DMR-EX95EB-S (DVD + VHS Tape + 250Gb HDD Combi).
Otherwise,...
It is possible to record a Digital Channel using your Panasonic TV's DVB Tuner instead, as all Panasonic DVB TV's output a recordable Digital signal via a rear Scart Socket, usually AV2. (Panasonic LCD & Plasma models may provide additional AV recording options switchable via Menu), while allowing you to watch any alternative Analogue TV channel or vise-versa.
Timer recordings can also be set using the TV's built-in timer to control 'Q-Link' (Next View Link) or 'External Link' enabled DVD's & VCR's.
The only requirement is the DVD Recorder or Video Tape Recorder has a Scart 'Input' socket. 99.9% will have this. Whether the Daewoo did, I don't know.
I'd recommend buying a Panasonic DVD DVB Recorder to go with a Panasonic TV, if it falls within your budget.
