My Potterton Performa 24, No Hot water, NoHeating?

Hello, just moved in and I was trying to understand why I was only getting luke warm waterfrom my boiler. I was playing around and bumped the pressure of the system up to 2.5 bar. So I switched it to the off position on the front and drained one of the rads to drop the pressure, that fine now back to normal but the Burner light doesn't come anymore when I turn the taps on. I think there's also suppose to be a flame through the pilot light window but there's not one of those either.

Please please please could someone help me on this problem.

Thanks Richard. 14 years on, your post is a charm.

OMG I had tried everything and this worked. It is the tiniest of buttons but with the information below I located it and I have a working boiler.

This worked for me too, thank you. The button is between where the two blue wires are attached on the copper pipe on the left hand side. The actual red plastic bit might have broken off but you can still push the switch between the wires you'll feel it click. (turn OFF the power first).

Thank you Richard - saved me a couple of days of inconvenience and no doubt quite a few quid too...

good job my eye sight hasn't packed up yet....found the tiny red button...pushed it in (you'll need a longish screwdriver of similar) and it worked a treat. many many thanks

Richards answer really does work.

If you know that the pressure is fine, but the pilot light still isn't coming on, then do as Richard suggests above. We have the potterton performa 24 ( the older non HE) version.

Take big metal front cover off the whole boiler. You do not need to unscrew the bottom grey section at all. If you look at the back left of the wires section, as Richard said there is two wires that go into a tiny little red button ( its tiny, its about the size of a grain of rice) it was quite hard to push in at first but we kept trying and it eventually went in and out.

We tried at first with all power off and nothing happened, so we turned power back on and pressed red button again and the pilot light reignited. Hot water worked straight away.

After googling problems with this boiler a few times now there seems to be two common problems.... this 'no pilot light' issue and the other is caused by the low pressure.... For this you need to google "filling loop" and repressurising your boiler. We found out that in a random cupboard in the kitchen there was a grey almost woven looking pipe that had a little turning lever attached on one end, this was our filling loop, when turned the pressure dial went up.

Hope you fix it yourselves and save some money!

Thanks guys!!

Hi, I have the same problem but can't seem to find the reset button. There is something that looks like a button in between two wires but it wont budge... any suggestions? cheers*****

How far should the button be in?

I had this problem once before but didnt see how it was fixed, should the button be flush? or should it still poke out?

There is an engineer reset inside the boiler, lift and remove the large white panel from the boiler, on the left hand side there is a copper pipe that runs downwards halfway down 2 wires enter a small red button, press the red button and the boiler should ignite again, make sure you turn the power off first just to be safe.
