Hello, I recieved a X telstra Laptop From a Friend

When i tern it on (The power adapter must be pluged in as battery does not hold charge)

I get a Black Screen then it comes up with

Then i get a Password It has a Pic of a Padlock and what looks to be a Floppy next to it I press enter and it says OK....

After that i get

ERROR

00163

I can Select Ok or Cancel Then Nothing happens,


I have tried Holding F1 and i have replaced the CMOS battery

Is there anything i can Do Please HELP !!

If you replace the CMOS/BIOS battery which is located under your RAM memory, this should fix it. Part number 02K6486. You can get one on eBay for about $6, which includes shipping.

I think you need to replace the lithium back up battery(CR????) type which should only cost around a couple of pounds/dollars.After you replace it you will need to set up your clock then your laptop should boot.

Your best bet is to go through the diagnostic procedure in the Hardware Maintenance Manual. Assuming that you don't have a manual, you can download one from: www.lenovo.com. (Lenovo own all of IBM's PC assets now.)
