How can i fix my washing machine, hotpoint wma 34?

Well,
yesterday my washing machine (hotpoint wma 34) was working great without no problems. It was in the conservatory in the corner, so we turned it 90 degree clockwise so the back is facing the windows. When i started the washing machine, with the hot and cold water pipe switched on and waste pipe in place, the machine would start normally and take in water. after like 30 seconds it would stop causing all house lights and plugs to go off. After asking the electrician he said the RDC switch must have dropped so i turned it back on. But every time the machine is still causing the RDC to drop.
Can someone tell me what the problem is.

Unplug the motor and see if it now ok (obviously no motor action). If so, then suspect motor. www.emwelec.co.uk
