When I try to switch the oven on, it does not light.

The light on the panel shows" Oven on" but the flame does not come on. A couple of weeks back I tried to put the oven on and surprisingly it worked and the flame came on.
However, it would not ignite (no flame comes on) when I tried a few days back.
