Have an old Emerson DVD/VCR combo and disc is stuck in DVD player. It makes a grinding sound when try to eject. Won't eject and won't open door. Would play DVD until we tried to get out the disc. I don't care if I have to break the DVD player.. it's old but I want the DVD.

The answer is very simple. Remove the outer casing from the player. Then remove 2 small screws from the bridge piece that sits on the top of the CD mechanism. Now remove the bridge piece, and simply lift out the disc.
