12v halogen lighting ?

i have 2 transformers running 3 halogen lamps each.
i have 230v coming in and 12v at the bulb holder but lights will not come on. the odd accasion they will come on fora few mins and then go off but most of the time they wont come on at all

are they 35 or 50w bulbs you're using? is the transformer rated for the watts you're using. just replaced all the shower light transformers in a hotel as the boss was fitting 50w bulbs instead of 35 wattt ones. the tranbsformers just gave up. also found a kitchen with ikea lo voltage lights and the owner had replace the 35's with 50's. The lights came on for 3 to 4 minutes then the transformer trip blew. just a thought. Cjeck what the power output on the transformer is..

If the bulb is good and it gets presented with 12V then it will come on - if a bulb is not coming on then it's not seeing 12v.

I suffered the same sort of problems for three years with shoddy lamp holders and poor connections and became a martyr to my 12V halogens in the kitchen.

After replacing them with 8W mains neons (worktop under cabinet) I have my life back again.
