toilet blocked by chemical freshener!?

My 2 year old grandchild dropped the plastic cased toilet freshener down the loo three days ago which I was unaware of. Now toilet well and truly blocked. Plumber was coming today but phoned to say he's ill. Would the plunger method work?

Old fashioned method.

Take a mop and vigourously plunge it, being careful not to break the pottery. Should work, never failed for me.
