Toshiba DVD outputs S-Vid and Component signal but not Analog Video?

A Toshiba SD-K620 that outputs S-Video signal and Component video signal fine but throws only black screen for analog video outputs. Any thoughts on this one?

I have hooked up a friend's Toshiba DVD player and one at the college where I'm an AV Tech. My recollection is that I had to use the menu to select which output is active. Of course, the TV may also require a similar selection. I found on my Toshiba TV that the composite video input was not useable while the S-video cable was plugged in. By the way, composite, S-, and component are all analog signals, as are VGA, S-VGA, XGA, etc. DVI-I and HDMI are digital.
