How can I fix my Diplomat ADP 8242?

When my dishwasher was on today the whole of the electric in the house tripped 3/4 of the way through the cycle. We narrowed it down to be the dishwasher. Everytime we now try to switch the dishwasher on at the door button (not the plug socket) it trips the electric at the main switch. Can you please help?

Its an electricians job really: Only competent individuals should continue.
If you feel competent, disconnect the power to the machine completely.
Remove the bottom front cover( plinth). Remove both wires from the heater element and insulate them.
Run the machie as normal . If you do not get a mains trip it will be the heating element
They cost about £25 from and appliance shop
