I tried to insert a replacement plastic end cap into the end of my carp rod, and the carbon split.. the split isn't too bad (thank God) just about an inch up the rod horizontally.
Also there is a cork dowel insert in the spigot (the male part) in one rod but not this one. I want to get them sorted because they are quality handmade (Bruce Ashby Mirage). I don't want to send them off and incur too much expense, rather just get6 a piece of cork dowel from somewhere (can't find online) and glue the crack. Cheers

After you glue the crack, I'd wrap over the repair with rod winding thread & finish with clear epoxy. Will help keep crack from spreading.

When I need a cork dowel, I use a wine or champaign cork. They cut down & insert into the ends of my rods & I find the champaign ones specially helpful.
