I have the same tractor with the same problem. I was able to get the tractor going by using a garden spayer with diesel in it and force feeding the enging through the intake. It would run but only get up to 1500 rpm. Then it would bog down and stall. I'm thinking its in the solinoid system in the injector pump. When I try to start the engine normally it sounds like it wants to start but never seems to keep going. I had a chevy 6.2 that had the same problem. I had to get the injector pump rebuilt. Have you ever removed the injector pump from a John Deer 310 A. I like to have a visual picture before I plung in. I'm not afraid to go it alone it I have to.
